FORMAT: Sanctioned by and in accordance with VHSL cross country rules and regulations
PARTICIPANTS: Hogoheegee District Cross Country Teams
ADMISSION: None
ENTRY LIMITS: Top 7 runners from each team (girls and boys) in the varsity races. We will have a combined JV/middle school race which has unlimited competitors
QUALIFYING FOR REGION: The top 2 teams and the top 15 individuals will qualify for the Region D meet in Grundy. Just to clarify, if you are not on one of the top two teams that qualify for the Region D meet, you must place in the top 15 to advance to the region meet
ENTRY PROCEDURE: All entries must be entered on milestat. Entries will be due by Monday, October 23rd, at noon. Coaches will need to fill out paper entry forms for the region meet that will need to be turned into me before you leave or e-mailed to me by the next morning so I can get them to the region director. This is a backup in case something happens with milestat. Region entry forms will be in your packet or you can find them on the VHSL website
SCORING AND UNIFORMS: We will follow the NFHS rulebook for scoring and uniforms. See the NFHS T&F/CC Rulebook
TRAINER: A certified athletic trainer will be on site. Bre Bebber- - bbebber@wcs.k12.va.us
BUSES: Buses will no longer drop teams off at the top of the dam. Buses will need to go to Resting Tree Drive which is the road to the left of the main Sugar Hollow entrance. If you are coming from exit 7, Resting Tree Drive is the road on your left before you get to the main entrance of the park. if you're coming up number 11 (Lee Highway) from exit 10, it's the first road past the main entrance to the park
When you start going up Resting Tree Drive you will cross a small bridge and there will be an opening in the fence on your right. Drop your teams off there and they can walk up the hill to the course and trees where team camps are set up. Buses can park on the side of the road on Resting Tree Drive or they can go back to the main entrance to the park and go to the parking lot at the soccer fields past the white house which is the offices to the park. When your team leaves they will need to load on Resting Tree Drive as well. No buses will be allowed to stop and pick up teams at the top of the dam anymore as they have done in the past
TEAM CAMPS: Teams may set up your camps in the trees. Just be sure that you do not set up on the course because the course goes through the trees. It will be marked off
SPECTATOR PARKING: Spectators may either park in the parking lots below the dam on the left as soon as you pull into the main entrance to the park or they may go up Battle Hill Drive and park in the grass parking area near the white house which is the offices to the park.
To get to the grass parking area, go up Battle Hill Drive which is the main entrance to go up to John Battle High School. It is on your right (coming from exit 10) before you get to the main entrance to Sugar Hollow Park. Once on Battle Hill Drive you will take a left on the gravel road right past the baseball field and it will lead you to the grass parking area next to the park offices. You can walk across the dam to get to the starting line
FACILITIES: Bathrooms are available at the softball/baseball fields near the parking lots at the bottom of the dam
CONCESSIONS/T-SHIRTS: T-shirts will be on sale. We will not have concessions
TIMING: Tim Johnson of Trojan Timing will be in charge of timing. Results will be live on Trojantiming.com. Results will be posted on milestat
AWARDS: The top 10 in the girls and boys varsity races will receive medals
DIRECTIONS TO SUGAR HOLLOW PARK: Take I-81 to exit 10. Take a right off the exit and go to the light and take a left on Lee Highway. Follow for approximately 3 miles and the entrance to Sugar Hollow Park will be on your right. Buses will need to go one street past the main entrance to Resting Tree Drive on your right to drop off teams. Buses may park on the side of the road on Resting Tree Drive
TIME SCHEDULE: The Southwest District meet will be going on when you get to the course so please be mindful of that when you are arriving to stay off the course as much as possible
